The Unitarian Church is available for weddings, funerals, and general hire. There are three hirable spaces: The Main Hall, the Upper Hall, and the Coffee Lounge. The Main Hall

Ideal for weddings, the Main Hall is a large space and can be configured in different ways according to your needs. It also has a balcony, which can extend the capacity if needed. At the front of the Main Hall is a carpeted area, behind which is a small raised stage. This has sometimes been used for small musical ensembles. The Main Hall has recently been redecorated and fitted with a radiant heating system for the colder months. The church has lots of silk flowers, bows, and other decorations to make the room look special for your big day.

The Upper Hall

The Upper Hall has is another large space, complete with its own kitchenette. It partitions into two, and is frequently used in conjunction with the Main Hall as a reception space for weddings.
It can be laid out with dining tables, or theatre-style for performances. The Upper Hall has a raised stage, perfect for DJs, bands, or small-scale theatre shows. Please note that there is unfortunately no disabled access to the Upper Hall.

The Coffee Lounge

The Coffee Lounge is a smaller room, typically used for meetings. It has a kitchen next door, and toilets nearby. The Coffee Lounge can be set out boardroom-style, accommodating 16, or cafe-style, to accommodate 24.

Access to the Coffee Lounge is via a few steps, which can be accessed via a wheelchair lift. If you have some limited mobility, we will be more than happy to assist you. The Coffee Lounge can also be accessed separately via an entrance on Wood Street.

Ceremonies

Holding your special ceremony at a Unitarian Church allows you to tailor the service to your specific needs. For instance, for weddings between people of different faiths, we can incorporate traditions from both. Or if some people involved are less comfortable with overtly religious traditions and words, we can discuss this and create a balance that is suitable for everyone.
